The school was founded in 1922, Japanese colonial period, and it was formerly located inGeng-Liao village, which was an unsophisticated and full of human touch area in Wugu Township. However, due to the frequent typhoon threat during summer every year, the school was suffering the flood damage repeatedly. In 1980s, the government decided to build the Er-Chong embankment to reduce the loss. That’s why the school was moved to the present site, Bao-Zi-Liao, in 1983. Up to now, Geng-Liao Elementary School already has beyond 60 years history since Taiwan Restoration. Geng-Liao Elementary School students mainly come from the Geng-Liao and Xing-Zhen villages, and being attracted by its open and active atmosphere, more and more students from other regions of New Taipei City choose Geng-Liao Elementary School in recent years .
